My final is only worth 10% — does it matter?
A 10% final decides almost nothing and protects almost everything. From 81%, reaching a B needs a 101 — impossible — while bombing it entirely still leaves you at 72.9. The narrow range between best and worst is the whole character of a light final.

Frequently asked questions
Can a 10% final change my letter grade?
Only if you are already within about a point of a boundary. The entire exam can move your course grade by at most ten points and realistically by two or three, so it decides borderline cases and essentially nothing else.
Should I still study for it?
Enough to avoid a bad surprise, and no more if you have heavier exams the same week. Scoring 50 instead of 85 on a 10% final costs three and a half points of course grade — which matters only if you are sitting on a boundary.
Why is my grade so hard to change now?
Because 90% of it is already decided. With so little weight remaining, every point you want to gain requires ten points on the exam, which is why targets just above your current grade come back as impossible while the grade itself is perfectly safe.
What should I focus on instead?
Any coursework still outstanding, and any heavier exam in another course. Late work, resubmissions, and extra credit change your current grade directly, and with a light final your current grade is effectively your final grade already.
