Frequently asked questions
What does a negative required score mean?
It means the target is already covered by points you have earned, so the remaining work cannot take it away. A result of minus five says you have five points of exam performance in hand. Treat the size of that cushion as the useful number rather than the minus sign in front of it.
How thin is the margin here?
Thinner than 95% suggests. Holding a B through a zero needs about 94.3 going in, so one missed assignment before the exam would break it. The security described on this page belongs to a specific pairing of current grade and weight, and it disappears the moment either one moves against you.
Should I still sit the exam?
Yes — attendance at a final is usually compulsory regardless of standing, and skipping one can breach an attendance requirement or a professional-programme rule even when the grade is safe. Some faculties also void a course result where the final was not attempted, which turns a settled B into an administrative problem.
Is a higher letter still available?
