Ninety is more often demanded as a number than as a letter: scholarships, honour rolls, and course-repeat waivers tend to name it directly. At 87% with a heavy 35% final, you need a 95.6 — steep, but the weight is what keeps it possible at all. Six starting grades are worked through below.

Frequently asked questions
Why do requirements say 90 rather than "an A"?
Because letters are not portable and numbers are. An A means 90 at one institution and 93 at another, and it means nothing at all where degrees are classified rather than graded. A committee writing a rule for applicants from many systems picks the percentage, which is the only figure everyone can produce.
What does 90% mean outside the United States?
Quite different things. On the Canadian scale used here it is the A-plus band; in the Indian CBSE convention it lands in the top two grades; on a UK honours scale it is far above the First-Class threshold of 70 and is rare enough that few modules award it. Would a lighter final make this easier or harder?
Harder, because you are below the target. With the same 87% and a 20% final the requirement rises to 102 and the 90 disappears; with a 50% final it falls to 93. Being behind means you want more of the grade still unwritten, which is the opposite of what most students hope for.
Does 89.6 count as 90 for a scholarship?
Only if the awarding body rounds, and awarding bodies usually read whatever figure the registrar transmits. Rounding decided inside your course does not necessarily survive the trip to a transcript or a GPA calculation, so aim clear of the line rather than at it when money depends on the answer.
