Is a B+ worth chasing over a B?
On the four-point scale a B+ is 3.3 against a B's 3.0, so across a five-course term the difference moves a GPA by roughly six hundredths. Small in isolation, larger in aggregate: four B-pluses instead of four Bs over two years is a visible difference on a transcript an admissions office reads closely.
Does every school put the B+ at 87?
No. Eighty-seven is the commonest cut point in the United States, but institutions place it at 86 or 88, and some issue straight letters with no pluses at all. A single point of movement in that boundary shifts the score you need on this final by four points, so read the syllabus first.
What happens to my grade if the exam goes badly?
