Does a C+ clear a "C or better" prerequisite?
Yes. A C+ is above a C in every plus-minus scheme, so any rule written as a minimum of C is satisfied by it. The grade that fails those rules is the C-minus, which reads as a C to most students and counts as 1.7 grade points rather than 2.0 to the registrar.
Why aim for a C+ rather than settling for the C?
Because the four points between 73 and 77 are cheap insurance. A C sitting at 73.2 is one marking dispute away from a C-minus, while a C+ leaves room for a regrade, a rounding rule, or a clerical correction to go against you without changing the letter on your record.
Will retaking the course remove this grade?
It depends on your institution's repeat policy, and the variation is wide. Some replace the original grade in the GPA entirely, some average the two attempts, and some record both while counting only the higher. All three usually leave the first attempt visible on the transcript itself.
Is 89 on a final realistic from a C average?
It happens, and the honest predictor is whether the C came from misunderstanding the material or from losing marks to timing, missed submissions, and one bad assessment. The second is far more recoverable in a single sitting than the first, and only you know which describes this course.
