How do I work out my worst possible grade?
Multiply your current percentage by the share of the course already graded. At 91% with 70% graded, that is 63.7 points banked, and no exam result can take them away. The calculator prints the same figure as the minimum, and it is the number to look at before deciding how much revision this course deserves.
Why does a strong average fall so far?
Because weight, not merit, decides how much of your record survives. A 30% final discards three tenths of it and substitutes the exam. Score nothing and that third contributes nothing, which subtracts 27.3 points from a 91 regardless of how consistent the previous eleven weeks were.
Does a zero on the final also affect my GPA?
Only through the course grade it produces. GPA is computed from final letter grades weighted by credits, so a single exam never enters it directly. A four-credit course falling from an A to a D moves a fifteen-credit term GPA by roughly eight tenths, which is the real cost of the zero.
Can a zero be corrected after the fact?
Sometimes, and the common causes are mundane: an unrecorded sitting, a scanning failure, a paper marked under the wrong name, or an accommodation approved but never applied. Grade queries have short windows, often two or three weeks after posting, so check the posted score against your own memory of the exam.
