La regla · The rule
Look back at Lesson 1. You now move emphasis by rebuilding a sentence, assert something without owning it, use the connectors that have no English translation, name the parts of an argument, hear irony and understatement, and read an essay for its turns.
Y también · And also
Module 4 takes the other half of C2: the extremes of register, fixed expressions, professional languages, and the long written forms. Ya lees lo que leen los hispanohablantes — you now read what Spanish speakers read.
Ojo · Watch out
llevadero means bearable, easy to bear — said of a text, a workload, a climate. sin esfuerzo aparente is the C2 aim — aparente, because the effort is real. lograr + infinitive is to manage to.
lograr, pretérito perfecto — the table
yo he logrado · tú has logrado · él/ella/usted ha logrado · nosotros hemos logrado · ustedes han logrado · ellos/ellas han logrado
Do it now — on paper
Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with la primera mitad.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write out lograr, pretérito perfecto in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
