La regla · The rule
Three checks, and they are specific to this task. One: is there a yo, an en mi opinión, an opinion adjective anywhere? Two: does every paragraph carry an idea rather than a text?
Y también · And also
Three: could a reader who has not seen the documents follow it? If the answer to the third is no, the synthesis has quoted rather than synthesized, and it will read as a reading list.
Ojo · Watch out
Three checks: no yo or en mi opinión, one idea per paragraph, and could a reader who has not seen the documents follow it? citar en lugar de sintetizar is the failure the third check catches — quoting is not synthesizing.
sintetizar, presente — the table
yo sintetizo · tú sintetizas · él/ella/usted sintetiza · nosotros sintetizamos · ustedes sintetizan · ellos/ellas sintetizan
Do it now — on paper
Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with el adjetivo de opinión.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write out sintetizar, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
