Speaking cards — say it aloud

Module 5 of the free Spanish course (CEFR A2 mastery + the B1 bridge), lesson 25 of 30: The speaking exam is a conversation: introduce yourself, answer questions about your life. On this page: 7 words with their genders and respellings, the rule, a watch-out line and the audio — the study notes behind the workbook's QR.

Respellings follow the course’s say-it key; the stressed syllable is in capitals. Print this lesson’s flashcards (PDF) — the words on the front, the English and respelling on the back.

La regla · The rule

The speaking exam is a conversation: introduce yourself, answer questions about your life, manage a small everyday exchange. Every one is a page you have already done — now do them ALOUD, timed by nobody.

Y también · And also

Card one: your name, age, family, town. Card two: your day, with times. Card three: buy a ticket to Lima. Card four: order at the café. Say each in under a minute, out loud, today. Despacio — slowly — is allowed.

Ojo · Watch out

en voz alta is aloud — literally in a high voice. la voz (voice) ends in z and says s; its plural is las voces. la vez is a time, an occasion: otra vez, again.

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 7 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with en voz alta.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write two sentences of your own that get the watch-out line right, then the two practice pages of workbook lesson 25 in Module 5 are the written half of this page.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
