Hear the words
Each word is read twice — say it back in the gap. Computer-generated voice; credits on the course page.
La règle · The rule
Look back at Module 1 of this band. You now read the two tenses French writes and never speaks, agree a participle in the cases that make native writers pause, build a formal sentence and punctuate it, read a newspaper for its position as well as its facts, choose a word for its register, and write the two texts the DALF C1 sets. With Module 1, that is the C1 material of this band.
Et aussi · And also
Module 3 opens C2, where correctness is assumed and the whole question becomes which of several correct things to say. Il ne s'agit plus d'avoir raison — it is no longer about being right.
Attention · Watch out
s'agir de is impersonal and takes only il: il ne s'agit plus de. supposé acquis means taken as given; la justesse is aptness, not justice.
Do it now — on paper
Say all 8 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the French spelling alone — begin with il ne s'agit plus d'avoir raison.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the French.
Write two sentences of your own that get the watch-out line right, then the two practice pages of workbook lesson 30 in Module 12 are the written half of this page.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The French Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
