La regla · The rule

Abstract nouns carry an argument in one word. El alcance (the scope, the significance), la constatación (the finding), el planteamiento (the approach, the framing), las modalidades (the practical details), la legitimidad.

Y también · And also

La legitimidad de esta medida es discutible packs a whole paragraph into seven words. Collect them; they are what makes C1 prose dense rather than merely long.

Ojo · Watch out

el alcance is significance or scope, not reach at arm's length, here; el planteamiento is how a question is framed; las modalidades is always plural. plantear is to raise a question, never to plant.

plantear, presente — the table

yo planteo · tú planteas · él/ella/usted plantea · nosotros planteamos · ustedes plantean · ellos/ellas plantean

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with el alcance.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out plantear, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
