La regla · The rule

Financial Spanish borrows less from English than you expect. La facturación is turnover; la tesorería is cash flow; los gastos are costs; el beneficio is profit and la pérdida is loss.

Y también · And also

Un ejercicio is a financial year, not an exercise. A report that says en el ejercicio 2026 is telling you which year, and the phrase is unavoidable in any annual report in Spanish.

Ojo · Watch out

el ejercicio in a company report is the financial year, not an exercise; el beneficio is profit, not benefit; los gastos are costs. invertir changes e to ie: invierto, invierten.

invertir, presente — the table

yo invierto · tú inviertes · él/ella/usted invierte · nosotros invertimos · ustedes invierten · ellos/ellas invierten

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with la facturación.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out invertir, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
