La regla · The rule
The habit that keeps a language is small and daily: one Spanish thing every day, chosen because you want it and not because it is on a syllabus. A newspaper, a podcast, a novel, a friend.
Y también · And also
Keep a small notebook for the words you meet twice. A word you meet twice in a week is a word you need; one you meet once is scenery.
Ojo · Watch out
One Spanish thing a day, chosen por gusto (because you want it), never because it is on a syllabus. Note the words you meet TWICE — a word met once is el decorado, scenery. la libreta is the small notebook; el cuaderno is the school one.
tener, presente — the table
yo tengo · tú tienes · él/ella/usted tiene · nosotros tenemos · ustedes tienen · ellos/ellas tienen
Do it now — on paper
Say all 10 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with sin manual.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write out tener, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
