La regla · The rule
B2 reading is mostly about subjects like this one, so the vocabulary has to be solid. El medio ambiente (the environment), el calentamiento global, la contaminación, la basura (garbage), el reciclaje.
Y también · And also
Two verbs carry most of the sentences: contaminar and proteger. Hay que proteger los recursos naturales — and yes, that is hay que plus an infinitive, because nobody in particular is named. Producir is irregular in the yo form only: produzco, produces.
Ojo · Watch out
la basura is garbage; in Spain you will also read los residuos for waste. el reciclaje is the noun, recycling; reciclar is the verb. And produzco takes zc in the yo form: produzco, produces, produce.
producir, presente — the table
yo produzco · tú produces · él/ella/usted produce · nosotros producimos · ustedes producen · ellos/ellas producen
Do it now — on paper
Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with el medio ambiente.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write out producir, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
