La regla · The rule
Everyday technology is a favorite B2 speaking topic because everyone has an opinion. Useful nouns: el celular (the cell phone — el móvil in Spain), la mensajería, los datos (data), la privacidad (privacy), la cámara.
Y también · And also
Useful verbs: compartir (to share), guardar (to save a file), borrar (to delete). Los datos son guardados — the passive from Module 2, doing real work; and the se version is even more common: se guardan los datos.
Ojo · Watch out
los datos is plural and masculine: los datos son guardados, with the participle agreeing. And guardar is to save a file; ahorrar is to save money — two verbs, one English word.
Do it now — on paper
Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with el celular.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write two sentences of your own that get the watch-out line right, then the two practice pages of workbook lesson 24 in Module 8 are the written half of this page.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
