La regla · The rule

Both ends of an essay have a job. The introduction brings the subject up, narrows it to the question, and announces the plan: veremos primero…, luego…

Y también · And also

The conclusion answers, then opens one door outward: en definitiva… and then a single forward-looking sentence. Never introduce a new argument there — that is the most common B2 essay fault there is. Ustedes sabrán el resultado: the futuro of saber, short stem sabr-.

Ojo · Watch out

veremos primero announces the plan in the future tense; en definitiva opens the conclusion. Never introduce a new argument in a conclusion. And ampliar is to widen; amplio is the adjective, wide.

saber, futuro — the table

yo sabré · tú sabrás · él/ella/usted sabrá · nosotros sabremos · ustedes sabrán · ellos/ellas sabrán

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with veremos primero.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out saber, futuro in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
