La regla · The rule

A resumen reports what a text says without arguing with it. Your opinion is not wanted, and putting it in costs marks. El autor explica que…, según él…, el texto subraya que…

Y también · And also

Report in the present tense however the original is written — that is the convention. And report the SHAPE as well as the content: en primer lugar, el autor… a continuación… Veremos el texto por partes: the futuro of ver, the tense of announcing what you will do.

Ojo · Watch out

A resumen reports in the PRESENT whatever the original tense, and carries no opinion — your view costs marks. subrayar means both to underline and to emphasize; here it is the second.

ver, futuro — the table

yo veré · tú verás · él/ella/usted verá · nosotros veremos · ustedes verán · ellos/ellas verán

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with el autor.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out ver, futuro in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
