Hear the words
Each word is read twice — say it back in the gap. Computer-generated voice; credits on the course page.
La regla · The rule
The first thirteen numbers are the set every age, price and date is built from. Uno drops its -o before a masculine noun: un libro — the article you already know IS the number one.
Y también · And also
Numbers stick when they count something: dos libros, tres sillas, cinco lápices. A number replaces un/una and the noun goes plural, so every count you speak is plural practice riding along free.
Ojo · Watch out
A number replaces the article: dos libros, never dos unos libros. And the noun goes plural after any number above one.
Do it now — on paper
Say all 13 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with cero.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write the numbers from 0 to 12 in Spanish in a column, say each one, then read the column back down from the bottom.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
Keep these words
Turn this lesson’s words into flashcards, then space your reviews — the two habits the research behind our study guides backs hardest.
