La règle · The rule
Regular verbs build the future from the infinitive: parler gives je parlerai, tu parleras, il parlera… finir gives je finirai. Aller and faire go irregular: j'irai, je ferai.
Et aussi · And also
L'année prochaine, je parlerai bien français. Un jour, j'irai à Paris.
Attention · Watch out
aller and faire lose their infinitive in the future: j'irai, je ferai — never j'allerai, never je fairai.
parler, futur simple — the table
je parlerai · tu parleras · il/elle parlera · nous parlerons · vous parlerez · ils/elles parleront
aller, futur simple — the table
je irai · tu iras · il/elle ira · nous irons · vous irez · ils/elles iront
faire, futur simple — the table
je ferai · tu feras · il/elle fera · nous ferons · vous ferez · ils/elles feront
Do it now — on paper
Say all 6 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the French spelling alone — begin with je parlerai.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the French.
Write out parler, futur simple and aller, futur simple and faire, futur simple in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The French Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
