La regla · The rule
You prepare a spoken presentation the way you prepare an essay, on paper, and then you do not read the paper. Notes are keywords, not sentences — a read-out talk loses marks at every level.
Y también · And also
Structure: announce the question, give your position, three arguments, a conclusion. Hoy les hablaré de… Mi punto de vista es el siguiente. Entrenar la voz — training the voice — is half of it: yo hablo despacio, and the room hears every word.
Ojo · Watch out
Notes for an exposición are keywords, never sentences: a read-out talk loses marks. hoy les hablaré de opens; mi punto de vista es el siguiente states the position. And les is the plural you — ustedes — in Latin America.
hablar, presente — the table
yo hablo · tú hablas · él/ella/usted habla · nosotros hablamos · ustedes hablan · ellos/ellas hablan
Do it now — on paper
Say all 10 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with la exposición.
Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
Write out hablar, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.
This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
