La regla · The rule

In speech the scale is carried by structure as much as vocabulary. ¿Vendrá usted? is formal; ¿va a venir? is neutral; ¿vienes? is informal — and the choice of usted or tú runs through every verb ending after it.

Y también · And also

You already know all three. Mastery is choosing one and holding it for the length of a conversation, and adjusting only when the other person moves first.

Ojo · Watch out

¿vendrá usted? is formal, ¿va a venir? neutral, ¿vienes? informal. Choose one and hold it for the whole conversation — adaptarse only when the other person moves first. venir is irregular in the future: vendré, vendrá.

venir, futuro — the table

yo vendré · tú vendrás · él/ella/usted vendrá · nosotros vendremos · ustedes vendrán · ellos/ellas vendrán

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with ¿vendrá usted?.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out venir, futuro in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
