Organizar por ideas

Module 15 of the free Spanish course (CEFR C2 mastery — the capstone), lesson 2 of 30: The rule that decides the mark: organize by IDEA, never by document. On this page: 9 words with their genders and respellings, the rule, a watch-out line, the conjugation table and the audio — the study notes behind the workbook's QR.

La regla · The rule

The rule that decides the mark: organize by IDEA, never by document. A plan that reads "text one says, text two says" has summarized four times and synthesized nothing.

Y también · And also

Build a grid instead — ideas down the side, texts across the top — and write from the rows. Each paragraph then carries one idea and cites whichever texts touch it.

Ojo · Watch out

Organize by IDEA, never by document: a plan that reads el texto 1 dice…, el texto 2 dice… has summarized four times and synthesized nothing. la fila is the row and la columna the column — write from the rows.

resolver, presente — the table

yo resuelvo · tú resuelves · él/ella/usted resuelve · nosotros resolvemos · ustedes resuelven · ellos/ellas resuelven

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with la cuadrícula.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out resolver, presente in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
