La regla · The rule

The formal complaint is the complaint from Module 2 grown up. It states the facts, names the rule that was broken, and asks for one specific thing, in that order and in the formal register.

Y también · And also

Me permito informarle de que… opens it without aggression. Le ruego que… makes the request, and it takes the subjunctive: le ruego que me devuelva el importe. A la espera de su respuesta closes it before the formula. Ellos querrán una respuesta: querer in the futuro, with its double r.

Ojo · Watch out

me permito informarle opens a complaint without aggression; le ruego que takes the subjunctive; a la espera de su respuesta comes before the closing formula. And querrán (future) has two r sounds — rolled.

querer, futuro — the table

yo querré · tú querrás · él/ella/usted querrá · nosotros querremos · ustedes querrán · ellos/ellas querrán

Do it now — on paper

  1. Say all 9 words aloud twice from the respelling, then once from the Spanish spelling alone — begin with me permito informarle.
  2. Copy every word with its accents on paper; then cover the English column and write each meaning back from the Spanish.
  3. Write out querer, futuro in full from memory, every person, and check each form against the table above.

This free course is the reading half. The writing half — write-in lessons, daily practice pages with built-in review, self-checks and a full answer key — is the companion workbook series, The Spanish Ladder: one workbook per module, fifteen in all, released band by band with the Basic band (Modules 1–5) first.
